Cornea/External Disease: March EyeWiki Update

Dear EyeWiki Editors,

In the past month, the site was viewed a total of 787,152 times. Since January 1, 2021 we have added 33 new articles. We have also collectively edited 496 articles since the start of the year out of our current 1132 articles.

Why EyeWiki Editors are Essential: In 2020 EyeWiki received 8.3 million views from all over the world and had approximately 2,100 practicing and in-training ophthalmologists contributing to articles and about 5,800 other account users. Other account may users are comprised of medical students and those in in ophthalmology or a related field who are not ophthalmologists but who may contribute to the site with the aid of a sponsoring ophthalmologist. Changes are made and new articles are added to EyeWiki on a regular basis. Your role as an Eyewiki editor is to ensure that changes are appropriate and that articles reflect the most current clinical information. That is why it is essential for all EyeWiki editors to review their assigned articles at least once every 6 months. In some cases, you may find that an article has not been changed and then you simply need to change the date to be current, the status to "Up to Date," and the reviewer name to your own.

To find your article assignments:

  • Log in and go to the My Portal link at the top of the page next to "Recent Changes"
  • This link leads directly to your section's Portal page
  • To find your own article assignments, sort by “Assigned Editor (portal member)” or use the filter
  • Review the Quick-Start Guide for Editors for helpful tips. For easy reference, this guide is also linked to each section Portal page.

When you complete an article review go to Edit with Form at the top of the article and change:

  • The date to be current
  • The status to Up to Date
  • The reviewer name to your own

Tip of the Month: How to edit and add citations

  • From an article page, go to the "Edit" tab to access the citation manager.
  • Find other great tips in the Getting Started tab

Cornea/External Disease: November EyeWiki Update
