A 55-year-old man with bilateral nasal and temporal hypertrophic subepithelial corneal degeneration, clinically consistent with peripheral hypertrophic subepithelial corneal degeneration (PHSCD), a peripheral/nodular variant within the Salzmann nodular degeneration spectrum. The patient had a background of keloid tendency and pollen allergy. A: Slit-lamp photograph showing a peripheral elevated, whitish subepithelial corneal plaque/nodular degeneration. B: Anterior segment OCT demonstrates a hyperreflective subepithelial hypertrophic lesion with irregular epithelial contour and anterior stromal shadowing/alteration. The white arrow highlights the focal hypertrophic subepithelial lesion, while the yellow arrow indicates the overlying epithelium. (Courtesy of Joobin Khadamy, MD, FEBO, FEBOS-CR.)
